Practical - Watercolour

After initial designs, I wanted to try and add a handmade aesthetic to the packaging.
The first method I tried was to create some swashes that I could use in the design of the sleeve, to place under the title of the meal. I did this by using watercolour and ink to create some shapes, which I then scanned and live traced.

When I put them underneath the meal title, they didn't look very clean and coupled with the bold type it still didn't fit the look I was after.

The appearance of the front sleeve improved when I used a clipping mask to cut off the ends of the swash - having the raw edges of just the top and bottom of the swash instead of the whole swash cleaned the appearance up a lot.
I like the rough edges of the swash as it brings a homemade aesthetic to the sleeve which is what I was aiming for. However, the type does not work with the style and I need to find a way to change this. As mentioned in the initial design post I will continue experimenting and will move onto hand-painted type to see if I can echo a handmade feel further using this method.
