During development, I realised that the front of the sleeve looked very empty.
After looking at Boxed - a range of ready meals - I realised I was missing a lot of copy on the front of the sleeve. This information should be supplied to fully inform the consumer on what they are purchasing.
The front of the Boxed sleeve contains
- the logo
- tagline
- meal
- detailed description of the meal
- serving size
- selected features of the meal
- directions for cooking
Looking at these examples I can list more elements of the meal and brand.
I can easily include a tagline - my concept of "almost ready" meals would be good to play upon as it brings something individual to the meals. I also need to include that my meal serves two as this is part of the concept.
Featured in my new designs I have included that my meal serves two, as well as a tagline and information which is featured on the bottom, letting consumers know that the meals are fresh, easy to cook and perfect for two.
In development I added another layer behind the swash - this adds a different colour into the design and also adds another dimension.
Experimentation with colours lead me to use muted tones of green and blue. I initially used pink to represent the meat meal, but I felt I wanted an orange in the selection of colours.
Feedback following this was to make the colours more vibrant - and revert back to the original shades of blue and green. I did this and the designs popped a lot more - the bright vibrant modern colours contrast well with the handmade type. I did experiment with the background being a paler shade of blue green and orange each but the white looks a lot cleaner against the rest of the design.
TO finalise the front cover I need to replace the placeholder with a logo. I also need to apply the designs to the rest of the packaging, including the back and side sections of the sleeve, as well as the inner packaging.
