Practical - Back layout

I decided to follow the layout of the back of the sleeve first designed in initial ideas. I felt the design of the recipe was the easiest for consumers to follow. The first adjustments I made to the back of the sleeve was the alignment of the ingredients. As the list is made up of both the amounts of each ingredient in the same hand drawn alphabet as the title, and the ingredients in body text, the two styles of type needed to be arranged. From these adjustments I decided that the best alignment would be the original version, with the elements aligned to the right.

Developing onwards from this, I wanted to continue onwards the design style from the front of the sleeve - I did so by using the same painted swash to use as the background for the ingredients list. Doing so added some colour to the back of the sleeve and made the whole sleeve consistent. However on the front of the sleeve, the design features 2 layers of swashes. I thought that replicating this on the back of the sleeve would be too much visually due to the vast amounts of text within the recipe. I decided to remove the underlying layer to simplify the back as much as possible. I also developed this onwards to partially cut the swash off the side of the sleeve.

I updated the back sleeve with changes of colour and also experimented with a change of layout as the existing design wasn't working for me. However I didn't feel as if this made the back interesting enough so reverted back to the previous format. The change in colour made the page look so much brighter. I also changed the style of the subheading 'ingredients' to be written in the hand drawn type I created to make the sleeve more consistent, this makes the title look less lost on the page.

For the below developments I rotated the swash round to show the flatter side of it as opposed to the rounder side which was the case before. This allows more space for the list of ingredients to be space out, and doesn't detract from the recipe as much as before. I extended the swash to the length of the space below the photo to the bottom of the sleeve, and then included the subheading within.

The final back of the sleeve includes the final adjustments to the list of ingredients - the alignment was changed to include the amounts included to the left, and the ingredients to the right. I also made the ingredients run over double lines - this makes the list look less gappy and suits the size of the painted amounts.

Below is the final background. I moved the logo from above the title to the bottom right corner, both to take up space and to variate from the design on the front.
