Study Task 4: Defining the brief

Problem definition/analysis (1 A3 design sheet)

ORIGINAL IDEA

Research focus:

Society
Branding

Defining the design problem:

The logo does not reflect the quality reputation of the brand. Morphe, a cosmetics company requires a rebrand including logo, website re - design and ad campaign to launch new look. A new logo to stand alone and to be applied to website and packaging. Can be achieved through thorough research and a comprehensive rebrand.

Client:
Morphe Cosmetics
Morphe is a cosmetics brand based in the USA
Affordable - mid range cosmetics
Generally high quality products
Big reputation, well reviewed and endorsed by big name beauty bloggers/ vloggers
1 store in Burbank, California but massive online presence.

Audience:

Make up users - females (teen upwards), professionals, could expand to males also

REVIEWED IDEA

Research focus
Society
Gender
Branding

Defining the design problem:

Creating a genderless make up company. Make up brands are often aimed at females - including advertising and packaging design (tend to use typically 'gendered' colours eg pink is feminine. I want to create a brand that is gender neutral and not aimed towards any gender in particular, in order to keep the company modern and changing with the times.

Client:
Not applicable - fictional make up brand.

Audience:
The premise of the brand is being gender neutral - and not aimed at any age - making this make up suitable for any age, gender, sexuality, etc.
