For my initial advertisement designs I created a design for billboards.
I really liked the simplicity of my first experimentation - making the logo big and adding in a tag line to entice consumers (the new genderless make up line). However since my packaging had the dissected logo pattern on - I thought I would add this to my billboard to make the brand consistent in design. I also liked the stacked text placed under the logo on the left of the board - this left plenty of negative space and didn't clash with the pattern.
For my next experiments I chose to add in a picture of a foundation bottle, to make clear what my brand was about. Even after adding in the orange and pattern from my packaging I didn't like the way it sat on the advertisement as it looked a bit out of place so I decided to remove it.
I decided to go back to my original layout as I felt it was the cleanest and most effective layout, it gave the text room to breathe and the big logo was bold - catching people's eye. However I wanted that look of continuity so I added in the pattern vertically along the left side. I was unsure at first whether to make the 'genderless' white to make it stand out but decided it looked better all black - similarly to this I tried the pattern all black but as on the packaging it contains white parts I kept them - and just had black text.
